A/C Unit and Refrigerant Lines

Removing





- Discharge refrigerant circuit.

- Remove A/C unit, refer to => [ A/C Unit ] Removal and Replacement.

- Remove the bolts - arrows -.

- Remove the intermediate piece - A -.

Disregard - item B -.

- Remove the bolts - B and D -.





- Remove the refrigerant line brackets - A and C -.

- Remove the heat insulation - B and C - on the refrigerant line connection.





The heat insulation cannot be removed without being destroyed.

- Remove the bolts - D and E -.

- Remove the refrigerant line - F - on the connecting flange for refrigerant line - A - to the A/C unit.

- Remove the refrigerant line - A - from the A/C unit connecting flange.

Seal open connections on the refrigerant lines/A/C unit with suitable sealing caps (to prevent dirt and moisture from entering).

Installing





Installation is done in reverse order, observe the following:

- Replace the O-rings - C -.

Coat the O-ring with refrigerant oil before installing. Refer to => [ Refrigerant Circuit O-Rings ] Refrigerant Circuit O-Rings.

Make sure the O-ring seals - H - (different versions) are seated correctly in the groove - arrow - on the respective refrigerant line.

- Check the connections - G - for the refrigerant line - A - and the evaporator - B - for damage and ensure they are seated correctly.

- Insert the O-ring seal in the groove - arrow - on the connection for the refrigerant line - A - and the evaporator - B -.

- Install the refrigerant lines - A and J - without tension.

- Tighten the bolts - D and F -.

Tightening specification: 9 Nm

- Install new heat insulation - E - around both refrigerant line connections.

- Install the brackets - A and C - on the refrigerant lines.





- Tighten the bolts - B and D -.

- Evacuate and fill refrigerant circuit.

- Check the refrigerant line connection points for leaks, e.g. using an electronic leak detector.

- Install the A/C unit, refer to => [ A/C Unit ] Removal and Replacement.

After finishing the repairs, perform the following work on the Climatronic Control Module (J255) using the Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051/ in the "Guided Fault Finding" function:

- Check the DTC memory and erase any malfunctions shown.

- Operate the A/C system after filling the refrigerant circuit, refer to => [ Operating After Filling Refrigerant Circuit ] Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning.
