Parking Brake Pressure Switch

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Trim Removal Wedge (3409)

Removing

- Remove rear center console.

- Bring seats into rearmost seat position.

- On vehicles with automatic transmission, place selector lever in position S.

- Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.

- Reach from bottom into recesses into recesses at climatronic control module (J255) (control head).

- Pull climatronic control module (control head) out of mounting frame - arrows -.





- Put climatronic control module (control head) down on center console on rag to prevent surfaces from damage.

- Disconnect electrical harness connectors in sequence - A through D - by releasing catches - F -.





- Disconnect electrical harness connector - E -.

- Remove gap cover above ashtray - arrow -.





- Open front ashtray.

- Remove the front ashtray insert.

- Remove bolts - 1 - and - 2 -.





- Release ashtray - 3 - to do so using a screwdriver - arrow -, attach screwdriver at opening - 4 -.

- Remove housing of front ashtray.

- Disconnect electrical harness connector, if present.

- Unclip boot - 1 - for gearshift lever or selector lever on both sides and pull off upward - arrows -.





Vehicles with Automatic Transmission

- Release retaining spring - 2 - and remove selector lever transmission range position display unit (Y26) - 1 - upward.





- Disconnect connector.

All

- Remove screws - arrows -.





- Slightly lift front center console - 1 - at rear and pull off of instrument panel toward rear.

- Disconnect connectors.

- Remove screws - arrows -.





- Carefully release clips - 1 through 3 - and - 6 - at decorative frame - 5 - using a small screwdriver.





- Remove decorative frame with multimedia system control head (E380) - 4 - upward from front center console.

- Remove screws - arrows -.





- Remove parking brake pressure switch (F234) - 1 - at the switch trim.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

- Install rear center console.
