Crankshaft, Measuring Axial Play

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Universal Dial Gauge Mount (VW 387)

• Dial Gauge 0-10 mm (VAS 6079)

Procedure

- Attach the (VAS 6079) together with (VW 387) to cylinder block and set indicator against crankshaft counterweight.






- Press crankshaft against dial gauge by hand.

- Set dial gauge to "0".

- Press crankshaft off dial indicator and read the value.

Axial clearance:

• New: 0.07 to 0.23 mm.

• Wear limit: 0.30 mm.
