Oil Pressure Sender: Testing and Inspection
Oil Pressure and Oil Pressure Switch, Checking
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Oil pressure gauge (V.A.G 1342)
• Adapter (V.A.G 1342/14)
• Voltage tester (V.A.G 1527B)
• Connector test set (V.A.G 1594C)
Procedure
• Oil level OK
• Engine oil temperature approximately 80° C.
- Remove oil pressure switch => [ Oil Pressure Switch ] Service and Repair.
- Connect oil pressure gauge (V.A.G 1342) with adapter (V.A.G 1342/14) to oil pressure switch hole.
- Install oil pressure switch to oil pressure gauge (V.A.G 1342).
Oil Pressure Switch, Checking
- Connect brown wire of oil pressure gauge to ground (GND).
- Connect voltage tester (V.A.G 1527B) using adapter cables from connector test kit (V.A.G 1594C) to oil pressure switch and battery plus ("+").
• LED must not light up.
- If LED lights up with engine at standstill, replace oil pressure switch.
- Start engine.
• Because the switch point for oil pressure switch can be exceeded upon starting, watch oil pressure gauge
• At 1.2 to 1.6 bar pressure, LED must light up.
- If LED does not light up, replace oil pressure switch.
Oil Pressure, Checking
- Start engine.
• Oil pressure at 1500 RPM at least 1.7 bar.
• Oil pressure at 2000 RPM at least 3.0 to 5.5 bar.
Assembling
- Install oil pressure switch => [ Oil Pressure Switch ] Service and Repair.
