Incorrect Fuel Protection

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Locking ring pliers

Removing

Follow all safety precautions. Refer to => [ Safety Precautions ] Fuel Supply System.

Follow the guidelines for cleanliness. Refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions ] Fuel Supply System.

- Open the tank door.

- Clean the area around the fuel filler tube.

- Remove the fuel filler tube cap - arrow -.






- Release the tab for the locking ring using the TORX(R) screwdriver - arrow -.






- Insert the locking ring pliers into both holes - arrows -.






- Turn the locking ring counter-clockwise 25°.

- Tilt the locking ring inside the fuel filler tube and remove it through the fuel cap opening - arrows -.






- Remove the incorrect fuel protection from the fuel filler tube - arrow -. Use locking ring pliers if necessary.






Installing

Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:

- Insert the incorrect fuel protection into the fuel filler tube.

• The tab on the incorrect fuel protection must fit into the groove in the fuel filler tube - arrows -.






- Turn the locking ring 25° clockwise and install it using locking ring pliers.






- If installed correctly, the markings on the locking ring and on the fuel filler tube will be opposite each other - arrows -.
