Removal and Replacement

Engine oil draining and replacing filter

Warning! Oil extraction not permitted with various engine types!

Special tools and workshop equipment required

- Oil extractor - V.A.G 1307 A -
or
- Oil extractor - V.A.G 1358 A -
- Tension band - 2171-1 -
- Oil filter wrench - 3417 -

Note:
- To extract motor oil more quickly, use probe - V.A.G 1358 A/4 - (outside diameter 10 mm).
- Observe waste disposal regulations!

6-Cylinder Diesel

- Remove engine cover.



- Loosen cover -1- with a -SW 32-.
- Remove filter component -3-.

Note:
- The engine oil will automatically flow into the crankcase as soon as the filter is removed.
- Observe installation position of tab on oil filter.
- Extracting engine oil is not permitted.
- Observe waste disposal regulations!

- Replace O-ring -2- and -4- and filter component -3-.
- Insert new oil filter in filter housing.
- Install cover -1- and tighten.
- Remove the noise insulation. Service and Repair
- Open oil drain plug and drain engine oil.
- Install oil drain plug with new gasket.
- Fill engine oil.

Tightening Specifications
Oil filter cover 35 Nm
Oil drain plug
M24 50 Nm
M14 30 Nm
