Campaign CV/24N2 - Air Cleaner Housing Replacement

Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 24 number 09-19 dated September 29, 2009 for reasons listed below.





Affected Vehicles





Condition

This RVU has been proactively released to update the air cleaner air box if so required.

^ This Required Vehicle Update (RVU) is in effect until March 10, 2011. After that date, this RVU will expire and no longer be in effect.

Vehicle must meet all of the following criteria:

^ Procedure is valid only for vehicles that show the CV / 24N2 code in the ElsaWeb Campaign/Action Information screen on the day of repair.

^ Vehicle must be within the Limited New Vehicle Warranty.

^ Procedure must be performed within the allotted time frame stated in this Technical Service Bulletin.

^ Procedure must be performed on applicable vehicles in dealer inventory prior to sale.

Technical Background

Some Audi A5 / S5 models may require a new inlet air box as described in Procedure Overview below.

Procedure Overview

On all affected vehicles, the air cleaner housing must be replaced, the snow screen must be installed and the antifreeze concentration in the cooling system must be checked.

Replacing air cleaner housing and retrofitting snow screen





1. Replace air cleaner housing (Figure 1, 3). See Workshop Manual >> Engine >> Fuel injection and ignition >> 24 Multiport Fuel Injection >> Removal and Installation >> Lower Air Filter Housing, Removing.

Tip: The replacement air filter housing is a complete assembly and does not need to be disassembled for installation. Use a silicone-free lubricant when installing the intake hose adapter on the 3.2L FSI or the mass air flow sensor on the 4.2L FSI.

2. Detach top section of air intake (Figure 1, 1).





3. Install snow screen (Figure 2) in air intake in front of air cleaner.

Checking antifreeze concentration in cooling system

1. Check antifreeze concentration in cooling system.

2. If necessary, increase antifreeze protection to -35°C (part number G 012 A8G A3).

^ Destroy and properly dispose of removed parts in accordance with local, state and federal/provincial environmental regulations.

^ If you have exhausted your allocated parts and you require additional parts for vehicles affected by this RVU but have exceeded your Upper Order Limit, please submit your requests for additional parts via email. Be sure to include the affected VINs with your order. Prior to submitting your request, ensure that each vehicle has the CV/24N2 code open in ElsaWeb. Your order will be reviewed and processed accordingly.
