Camshaft Adjuster






Camshaft Adjuster

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Socket (T40080)

Camshaft Clamp (T10252)

Toothed Belt Tensioner (T10020)

Locking Pin (T10115)

Removing

- Remove the high pressure pump.

- Remove the cylinder head cover. Refer to => [ Cylinder Head Cover ] Service and Repair.

- Remove the vacuum pump.

- Remove camshaft adjuster housing - arrows -.






- Bring marking on camshaft gear to alignment with marking on toothed belt guard. The notches of the camshafts - arrows - now face toward each other vertically.






- Install the (T10252) - arrows - as shown and secure.






- Loosen mounting bolt from camshaft adjuster using the (T40080).

- Compress chain tensioner - arrow A - and secure it using the (T10115) - arrow B -.






- Remove the bolt from the camshaft adjuster and then remove the adjuster and the chain.

Installing

For the correct tightening specifications, refer to => [ Valvetrain Overview ] Valvetrain Overview.

For the correct tightening specifications, refer to => [ Cylinder Head Overview ] Cylinder Head Overview.

The camshafts must be fixed in place with the (T10252).






- Place chain on to camshaft adjuster.

- Hold camshaft adjuster in front of exhaust camshaft so that notch - A - and pin - B - align.






- Place chain in this position on to the intake camshaft chain sprocket, first at top - arrow -.






- Slowly turn the intake camshaft with the (T10020) in direction of - arrow A - until the camshaft adjuster fits onto the camshaft.






If the pin does not fit into notch: Remove chain and place the chain on again.

- Replace camshaft adjuster mounting bolt.

- Tighten camshaft adjuster bolt. To do this, use the (T40080).

- Remove the (T10115) - arrow B -.






Assemble in reverse order of disassembly.

- Install cylinder head cover. Refer to => [ Cylinder Head Cover ] Service and Repair.

- Install high pressure pump.
