Selector Shaft Oil Seal, with Transmission Removed

Removal is also possible with transmission installed in vehicle. Refer to => [ Selector Shaft Oil Seal, with Transmission Installed ] Selector Shaft Oil Seal, With Transmission Installed.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Tube (VW 423)

Extractor lever (T20143/1)

Assembly sleeve (01E 311 120)

Sealing grease (G 052 128 A1)

Removing





With selector shaft installed

- Carefully pry out oil seal, making sure shaft is not damaged.

With selector shaft removed





- Carefully pry out oil seal using a screwdriver or oil seal extractor lever (VW 681).

Installing





- To avoid damaging oil seal - C -, oil seal and selector shaft must only be installed using assembly sleeve (01E 311 120 ) - A -.

- Pack space between sealing lip and dust lip half full with sealing grease (G 052 128 A1).

- Lightly oil outer circumference of seal.

- Drive oil seal - arrow - into housing as far as it will go.
