Backrest Cover And Padding (Sports Seat, Standard Seat), Removing And Installing

CAUTION: Observe side airbag safety precautions for relevant vehicles.

Removing cover and padding from backrest frame







1 - Cover and padding
- Removing
- Remove seat.
- Attach fixture for seat repair VAS 6136 to engine and transmission holder VAS 6095.
- Attach front seat to fixture for seat repair VAS 6136.
- Remove backrest.
- Remove head restraints.
- Remove head restraint guides.
- Remove easy-entry facility handle.
- Remove easy-entry facility trim.
- Remove backrest panel.
- Pry out staples - 4 - (4x) on left and right.
- Remove velcro strips - 5 - (4x) on left and right.
- Open cable tie - 8 -.
- Remove heated backrest cable - 6 -.
- Disengage piping on side - 2 - (2x).
- Pry out piping at bottom - 3 - (3x).
- Remove side airbag.
- Pry out plastic tabs - 7 - (5x).
- Pry out staples - 9 - (3x).
- Remove padding with cover.
- Installing
- Installation is in reverse order of removal.
2 - Side piping (2x)
3 - Bottom piping (3x)
4 - Staples (4x) on left and right
- Commercially available.
- Only use upholstery stapler.
5 - Velcro strips (4x) on left and right
6 - Heated backrest cable
7 - Plastic tabs (5x)
8 - Cable tie
9 - Staples (3x)
- Commercially available.
- Only use upholstery stapler.

Detaching cover from padding







1 - Seat cover

NOTE:
- When replacing cover, order replacement side trim for sill panel side (refer to Parts List).
- When installing a new cover - 1 - cut a slot in cover - 1 - at location of backrest release.

- Removing
- Use a screwdriver to pry the securing strips - 4 - out of plastic clips - 3 -.
- Installation
- Installation is in reverse order of removal.
- Replace damaged plastic clips.
