Front final drive gear oil, topping up gear oil level after repairs - 09L, 6 Speed AWD A/T

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required





^ Drip tray V.A.G 1306
^ Safety goggles

Requirements:
^ Gear oil about 20°C (room temperature)

Topping off

Note:
^ Refer to General repair instructions.
^ Read the rules for cleanliness when working on the automatic transmission.

- Drive vehicle onto a four-column hoist or over an inspection pit so that it is absolutely horizontal.
- Place drip tray V.A.G 1306 under transmission.





- Remove plug - arrow - .
- Fill front final drive slowly and at a constant rate for a period of at least 5 minutes until gear oil comes out at lower edge of oil filler hole.

Note:
^ The top off period of at least 5 minutes is necessary so that the internal oil level can be balanced out between differential and baffle chamber.
^ The plug with seal must be replaced.

- Tighten new plug to 35 Nm.

Note: The oil level does not need to be re-checked.
