Lock Carrier With Attachments, Assembly Overview







1. Lock carrier
- Removing:
- Remove bumper
- Detach Bowden cable for hood lock from front
- Detach engine cover -2- and -3-.
- Unbolt air duct between lock carrier and air cleaner (air duct is bolted to lock carrier).
- Detach connectors.
- Drain coolant and disconnect coolant hoses. See Fig. 2 and Fig. 3.
- Detach the condenser from the radiator only (do not disconnect any wires)
- Secure air conditioner condenser, e.g. to front wheel using wire.

NOTE: Condenser must not be suspended by its lines. Condenser lines must not be bent or kinked.

- Detach hoses to hydraulic fluid cooler.
- Remove hydraulic fluid cooler.

NOTE: Line leading to hydraulic fluid cooler must not be bent or kinked.


- On models with an automatic transmission, disconnect lines from ATF cooler.
- On vehicles with a charge air cooler, pull off air guide hose.
- Detach left and right hood seals at joint between fender and lock carrier -1-. Unscrew bolts -5-.
- A second mechanic is required to hold lock carrier -1-.
- Unscrew bolts -4-.
- Pull off the lock carrier toward the front.

- Installing:
- Install in reverse order.
- Headlights must be readjusted.

- Adjusting:
- Lock carrier -1- must be centered between fenders.
- If the fenders and hood are also being replaced, center them in relation to one another before adjusting lock carrier.

4. Combi bolt
- 10 Nm

4. Combi bolt
- 50 Nm

- Pull out retainer for coolant hose connecting flange at the top of radiator and detach connecting flange.

- Pull out retainer for coolant hose connecting flange at bottom of radiator and detach connecting flange.
- Bleeding cooling system.

- Detach hoses from hydraulic pipe.
- Unscrew hydraulic line for power steering at lock carrier.

- On vehicles with charge air cooling, loosen bolts on hose clamps -arrows-.
- Disconnect hoses.
