Selector Mechanism, Removing and Installing



Selector mechanism, removing and installing, 01J, CVT A/T FWD

Removing





- Remove selector lever handle.
- Open ashtray in center console and remove trim panel - arrows -.
- Remove air conditioning operating unit.





^ Remove ashtray in center console.
^ Release all 4 tabs - arrows - and pull cover - 1 - with guide upward to remove.
^ Disconnect electrical harness connector on side of guide.





^ Disconnect electrical harness connector on Shift Lock Solenoid N110.





- Disengage locking cable - arrows -.
- Loosen quick-release screws - 2 - and - 3 - and remove rear sound insulation.

Vehicles with 4-cylinder Engine:





- Remove cover plates on underside of vehicle: inside left - 2 - and inside right - 1 -.





- Remove rear crossmember on underside of vehicle, do so.

All models





- Remove bolts - 1 to 6 - to remove front crossmember for vehicle floor.

Note:
^ Illustration shows vehicle with 4-Cyl. engine.

Note:
^ The flex pipe in the front exhaust pipe must not be bent more than 10°, otherwise it can be damaged.





- Disconnect exhaust system at double clamp - arrows -.

Note:
^ Illustration shows vehicle with 4-cyl. engine.

- Remove heat shield below shift mechanism.





- Remove lower cover from shift mechanism - arrows -.
- Remove selector lever cable boot from lower cover and slide back.





- Remove retaining clip - 1 - for selector lever cable on shift mechanism downward.
- Pull plastic locking spring - 2 - slightly forward and push pin - 3 - upward only as far as necessary - arrow -.
- Remove selector lever cable - 4 - from shift mechanism.

Note:
^ Do NOT bend or kink selector lever cable.





- Remove nuts - arrows -.

Note:
^ A second technician is required when detaching shift mechanism below vehicle.

- Press retaining clips - 1 - and - 2 - inward, and at the same time pushing shift mechanism downward.

Installing
Installation is performed in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
- Install selector lever cable.
- Install locking cable.
- Adjust locking cable.
- Install exhaust system and align it free of tension.
- Check shift mechanism.
