Selector lever cable, bringing into basic setting, 01J, CVT A/T FWD

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Socket and key T40031:





Work procedure
- Remove shift mechanism cover.

Note:
^ There is a distinction between vehicles with "PRND" shift mechanisms (up to model year 2004) and vehicles with "PRNDS" shift mechanisms (as of model year 2004).

Vehicles with "PRND" shift mechanisms
- Place selector lever in position D.





Note:
^ Before performing basic setting, make sure that the clamping screw is tightened. It is accessible through the hole in shift mechanism in position "D" using socket and key T40031.

- Tighten clamping screw in this position using socket and key T40031 (13 Nm).

Vehicles with "PRNDS" shift mechanisms
- Place selector lever in position "S".





Note:
^ Before performing basic setting, make sure that the clamping screw is tightened. It is accessible through the hole in shift mechanism in position S using socket and key T40031.

- Tighten clamping screw in this position using socket and key T40031 (13 Nm).

Vehicles with "PRND" and "PRNDS" shift mechanisms
- Place selector lever in position P.





- Loosen quick-release fasteners -2- and -3- and remove rear sound insulation.





- Remove support bracket for selector lever cable -1-.

Note:
^ Make sure selector lever is in position "P".

- Push selector shaft lever -2- at transmission completely toward rear until parking lock engages.

Note:
^ When parking lock is engaged, it must not be possible to turn both front wheels in one direction at the same time.





- Make sure that selector lever cable has been routed free of kinks and tension.
- Make sure that selector lever cable -5- is secured with nuts -6- to support bracket -4- (13 Nm).





- Screw support bracket for selector lever cable tightly to bracket -2-.
- Adjust selector lever cable.
