Fuel pump delivery quantity, checking

Special tools and equipment





^ VAG 1348/3A with VAG 1348/3-2





^ VAG1318/17
^ Measuring container safe for fuel

Test requirements
^ Battery voltage at least 12.7 V
^ Fuel filter OK
^ Switch ignition off

Test sequence
^ Open cover of fuse box at left side of instrument panel.
^ Remove fuse -S228- at fuse carrier (position 28, left row, 5th large fuse from top).





^ Connect VAG1348/3A remote control connection using adapter cables from VAG1348/3-2 at right terminal of socket from fuse -S228- (arrow).
^ Connect clamping terminal to B+.
^ Remove fuel filler cap from fuel filler unit.





^ Remove the screw -1- and remove the coolant expansion tank cover (arrow).

WARNING: Fuel supply lines are under pressure! Before removing from hose connection wrap a cloth around the connection. Then release pressure by carefully pulling hose off connection.





^ Disconnect fuel return line -1- from -2- (press release button).
^ Connect VAG131 8/17 adapter to fuel return line from engine and hold in a measuring container.
^ Operate remote control for 15 seconds (keep button pressed).





^ Compare fuel quantity pumped with specified value.
*) Smallest quantity cm3/15 s
**) Voltage at fuel pump with engine off and pump running (approximately 2 volts less than battery voltage).
