Lock cable, removing and installing
Special tools and equipment





^ 3352 A Gage

Removing





^ Shift selector lever to "2".
^ Obtain radio anti-theft code.

See Caution for disconnecting Telematics battery
^ Disconnect battery ground connection.
^ Remove handle for selector lever; Refer to Fig.
^ Remove front center console.
^ Remove steering wheel.
^ Turn ignition key to driving position (ignition on).
^ Shift selector lever to "P".
^ Lift clip for retainer -1- and pull out lock cable from ignition/starter switch.
^ Remove cover with gate (selector lever actuation).
^ Unclip lock cable from securing spring at mounting bracket while slightly lifting securing spring; Refer to Fig. 8.
^ Free lock cable from cable be -2- and remove.

Installing
^ Route lock cable without kinks.
^ Turn ignition key to driving position (ignition on).
^ Insert lock cable in ignition/starter switch.
^ Check locking device -1- for proper engagement.
^ Attach lock cable with cable tie -2- to airbag sensor.
^ Turn ignition/starter key to lock position (ignition Off).
^ Shift selector lever to "P".
^ Clip in lock cable in securing spring of mounting bracket; Refer to Fig. 8.
^ Insert lock cable bracket -3- in shift mechanism and lock cable eye in lever for lock cable.

Adjusting
^ Shift selector lever to "P".
^ Loosen bolt -6-.
^ Clamp -3- must be movable by hand in direction of arrow -5-.
^ Move steering column to lowest position.
^ Insert gage 3352 A -item 4- between lever for lock cable and lock cable eye.
^ Pull lock cable in direction of arrow -5- and tighten bolt -6- with 10 Nm (7 ft. lbs.).
^ Remove adjustment gage.
^ Check ignition key removal lock after every adjustment of the lock cable.
^ Install steering wheel.
^ Install front center console
^ Install handle for selector lever; Refer to Fig.

^ Reconnect battery ground cable.
^ For vehicles with theft-protected radio reactivate code.
