Throttle Cable/Linkage: Testing and Inspection

Accelerator Pedal Cable, Checking - Vehicles With Automatic Transmission (Kick-down Switch, Checking)

Special tools and equipment
- VAG 1526 A







- VAG 1594 A







Test sequence
- Remove storage compartment on drivers side:
- Disconnect 2-pin harness connector off Kick-Down switch -F8- in front engine compartment (at bulkhead).







- Connect multimeter to Kick-Down switch (resistance test range)
- Specification: Infinity Ohm (no continuity)

- Slowly press Kick-Down switch
- Shortly after kick-down point the reading must drop to 0 Ohm.
- Accelerator pedal should be just before stop.

If specification are not obtained:
- Adjust Accelerator Pedal (AP) cable.
