Trim For Side Curtain Airbag (Avant)



Roof Frame Trim, Removing

WARNING: Observe safety precautions when working on side curtain airbag







1 - Roof frame trim

Removing
- Remove D-pillar trim
- Remove intermediate piece at B-pillar
- Remove roof grab handle - 2 -.
- Open slider on attachment eyelets for separation grill Fig. 2.







- Remove bolt - 4 -.
- Remove bolt- 3 - (1x).
- Wedge in a plastic wedge at upper B-pillar trim and upper C-pillar trim Fig. 1

NOTE: When removing roof frame trim - 1 -, touch only side facing headliner.

- Pull roof frame trim - 1 - out of rubber door seal.
- Pull roof frame trim - 1 - out under upper B-pillar trim and upper C-pillar trim.
- Carefully remove roof frame trim - 1 -.







CAUTION: Always adhere to roof trim installation sequence.

Installing
- Carefully guide roof frame trim - 1 - in under upper B-pillar trim and upper C-pillar trim.

NOTE: When installing roof frame trim, press only on side facing headliner, do not bang or hit.

2 - Roof grab handle







3 - Bolt
- Tightening torque: 3.5 Nm (31 in lb)
- Self-locking
- Always replace
- Always clean threaded holes for bolts (e.g. using a tap)
- For loose (threaded) inserts, tighten inserts using pliers
4 - Bolt
- Tightening torque: 5.5 Nm (49 in lb)
