Upper B-pillar Trim Panel, Removing And Installing (From Calendar Week 36.02)
WARNING: Observe safety precautions for working on airbags and head-level airbags.
1 - B-pillar trim
- Removing
- Remove outer seatbelt anchor
- Disengage upper B-pillar trim panel - 1 - at transition to lower B-pillar trim panel. To do so, pull the corners over the lower B-pillar trim panel.
NOTE: For better clarity, the A-pillar is depicted without trim in the illustration.
- Pull upper B-pillar trim panel - 1 - downward out of guide - 6 -.
- Disconnect harness connector for interior monitoring Fig.: 2.
- Press the catch strap - 4 - through the retaining tab at upper B-pillar trim panel - 1 -.
WARNING: Always follow installation sequence for B-pillar trim
- Installing
- Pull the catch strap - 4 - through the retaining tab at upper B-pillar trim panel - 1 -
WARNING:
The retaining tab must lie between the first and second elevation - 3 -.
Ensure that catch strap - 4 - is installed securely.
The green thread - 5 - must always face the vehicle interior.
- Insert button for height adjuster into height adjustment unit Fig.: 1.
NOTE: Do not press button when installing.
- Slide upper B-pillar trim panel - 1 - with catches - 2 - upward into mounts - 6 -.
- Pull upper B-pillar trim panel - 1 - over lower B-pillar trim.
- After assembling trim, make sure seal is properly fitted
NOTE:
Function check after installing trim:
Height adjuster must audibly engage into all five possible positions (even top position).
Button must return by itself to upper position after being actuated.

- Insert the slide with button - 4 - (without pressing) beginning at the top and working downward into release lever - 1 - of height adjustment unit while at the same time installing pin - 2 - into mounting - 3 -.

- Disengage connector for interior monitoring - A - using a turning motion.
