Note:
^ All possible malfunctions which can be detected by the level control system control module -J197- are listed below by their malfunction code. Existing malfunctions are printed out with their malfunction code (5-digit) only if the printer of the VAGI 551 is switched on.
^ If a malfunction occurs on a long-term basis the malfunction-indicator light for the self leveling suspension system remains on until the malfunction has been eliminated and the DTC memory has been cleared.
^ If malfunctions occur only occasionally and/or if the DTC memory has not been cleared following elimination of the malfunction, this malfunction is also indicated as a "sporadically occurring malfunction" "ISP"appears on the right in the display of the VAG1551 and the malfunction-indicator light does not illuminate.
^ If malfunctioning components are detected, also check the wiring to the components for short-circuits and line breakage using the circuit diagram.
