Air springs, removing and installing
Removing
^ Remove suspension strut first

^ Remove mounting bracket
^ Unscrew nut -1-
^ Use new nut
Tightening torque: 60 Nm
^ Remove air-spring boot upward.
Installing
Installation is reverse of removal.
^ Coat rubber sealing ring -2- with G 052 150 A2 lithium lubricant.
^ Align shock absorber - air spring piston - mounting bracket according to mark.
^ Make sure auxiliary spring is properly seated in cover
Lower rubber sealing ring must be dry and dust free.
^ Lower rubber sealing ring must be placed on the second step of the strut tube from the top.
^ Place air-spring on rubber sealing ring and press downward.
Note: Air spring must not bend when pressing down!
With sliding motion of piston, rubber sealing ring rolls up to the 3rd offset on which the spring supports itself and seals.
^ Dimension -A- between the center bore for air-spring/control arm bolts and the lower end of air-spring must be less than 262 mm before filling.
^ Check lateral movement of piston.
It must not be possible to twist air-spring on strut
^ Install mounting bracket
^ Install suspension strut
^ Hold suspension strut only at mounting bracket and strut tube as shown in illustration.
