Oil Pump, Removing and Installing


Oil pump, removing and installing

Special tools and equipment
^ Drip tray
^ long-nose gripping pliers VAS 6226

Removing
- Remove lower part of sump.
- Place drip tray in position.





- Disconnect coolant hose -1 -.
- Remove bolts and take off coolant pump (arrows).





- Pull drive shaft (arrow) for coolant pump out of guide at oil pump.
- Place an oil drip tray underneath





- Remove bolts and take off oil pipes -1- and -2-.

Note: Oil escapes on disconnecting the oil lines.





- Screw out bolts -1- to -3- and detach intake connection and housing.





- Press back oil pump drive shaft -1- against spring force and secure in position with long-nose gripping pliers -2-.





- Remove bolts (arrows) and remove oil pump.

Installing

Note: Replace oil seals and O-rings.

- Check whether 2 dowel sleeves have been installed in the cylinder block and insert if necessary.





- Install oil pump (arrows).





- Release long-nose gripping pliers -2- and allow drive shaft -1- to slide into oil pump.





- Check whether drive shaft is friction locked with oil pump. To do so, reach into intake opening (arrow) of oil pump and attempt to turn oil pump gears.
^ It must not be possible to turn gear wheels
Perform further installation in reverse order, note the following:
- Install lower part of sump.
