Fig. 1 Location of Automatic Transmission Control Module (TCM) -J217:

The TCM is located in front of the right seat under the carpet in the foot well.

Removing

Fig. 2 TCM -J217, removing and Installing:

^ Remove trim of right -A- column at bottom and right door entry moulding of right front door.
^ Loosen and fold up carpet at right rocker panel at right front door about 20 cm (8 inch).
^ Unclip container at -A- upward.
^ Unclip container at -B- as shown.

^ Unclip control module from container -arrows-
^ Disengage mufti-pin connector and disconnect from control module; Refer to Fig. 3.

Installing: Install in reverse order of removal but note the following:

^ Clip nut -1- must be securely fastened.

Fig. 3 Automatic Transmission Control Module (TCM) -J217, disconnecting multi-pin connector:

^ Switch off ignition and wait for about 30 seconds.
^ To disengage connector, push clip in direction of arrow.
Installation is in reverse order of removal.

Fig. 4 Engine Control Module (ECM):

Location: in plenum chamber in E-box.

Note: Before replacing the ECM, first read measuring value block 013 and print out or make note of values
