Switches/buttons In Instrument Cluster, Removing And Installing
The following describes removal of the instrument cluster illumination, "CHECK" and trip computer reset buttons located in the instrument cluster.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Trim removal wedge 3409
- Hook 3438
Removing
CAUTION: When removing switches, lights or displays, prevent damage to visible areas of the vehicle interior by always applying appropriate tape to area surrounding the component, and the tools being used (screwdrivers, wedges etc.)
- Using power adjustment mechanism, pull steering wheel out completely and lock in lowest position.
CAUTION:
- Switch off all electrical consumers.
- Switch ignition off and remove ignition key.
- Use trim removal wedge 3409 to carefully detach trim panel from instrument panel -arrows-.
- Open coin tray.
- Slide coin tray trim to left -arrow- and detach from retainer.
- Open glove compartment.
- Starting above glove compartment, use trim removal wedge 3409 to carefully detach trim panel with switch module from instrument panel.
- Disconnect electrical connector.
- Turn knurled wheel -2- for left air vent next to instrument cluster completely upward.
- Disengage retaining clips -1- upward using a small screwdriver.
- Pull out air vent from panel, alternating at left and right using Hook 3438.
NOTE: If necessary, retaining tabs may be released in several steps.
- Disconnect electrical harness connectors at air vents.
- Repeat procedure at right air vent, next to instrument cluster.
- Remove screws -arrows-.
NOTE: Use adhesive tape to affix cloth to protect steering column trim and steering arms.
- Pull instrument cluster cover off slightly from instrument cluster.
- Disconnect electrical harness connectors from instrument cluster cover.
- Engage turn signal indicator switch in lower switch position.
- Actuate flick wipe function and detach trim for instrument cluster cover while in this switch position.
- Remove screws -arrows-.
- Detach buttons -1- and -2-.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal.
