Transmission, installing
Install in reverse order, paying attention to following:
Notes: Secure all hose connections using hose clamps appropriate for the model type:

- Before installing a replacement transmission, clean the ATF pipes and the ATF cooler, and fit a new ATF auxiliary filter.
- Replace self-locking nuts and bolts during assembly work.
- Always replace bolts that are secured with tightening torque as well as O-rings and gaskets.
- All cable ties opened or cut during removal must be reinstalled at the same locations during installation.
- Tie electrical wires off to the side before installing, so that they are not pinched between engine and transmission.
- Check whether dowel sleeves for centering engine/transmission in cylinder block have been fitted and install if necessary.
- Set intermediate plate or intermediate panel onto sleeves.
- Push selector shaft lever -A- on transmission back as far as it will go -arrow- until parking lock engages.
- Lift transmission carefully and use transmission support 3282 to move it to installation position.
- Bolt transmission to engine.
Notes: The specified tightening torques only apply to slightly greased, oiled, phosphated or blackened nuts and bolts.
- Additional lubricants, such as engine or gear oil, are permitted. Lubricants containing graphite must, however, not be used.
- Do not use degreased parts.
- Tolerance for tightening torques "15%.
- To install lower engine/transmission bolts, lift rear of transmission slightly.

- Check whether selector lever is set to "P", then carefully push ball socket of selector lever cable -5- onto selector shaft lever -7-.
Note: Do not bend the selector shaft lever when pushing on the ball socket (counterhold if necessary), otherwise it will no longer be possible to adjust the selector mechanism precisely.
- Tighten bolts -2- securing holder -3- for selector lever cable to transmission (23 Nm).
- Install ATF-lines with new seals.
- Install transmission supports and transmission mount:

Note: Depending on version, find a transmission mount of version "D" or "H" for use.

- Install front exhaust pipe.
Refer to Engine, Cooling and Exhaust.
- Bolt drive axles on drive flange.
Refer to Drive Axles, Bearings and Joints.
- Install subframe:

- Checking adjustment of selector lever cable.
- Position exhaust system free of stress.
- Checking oil level in front final drive.
- Checking ATF level.

^ If the battery is reconnected, remember to activate the vehicle equipment (radio/radio navigation system, clock, electric power windows) according to operating instructions.
^ Deactivate service mode on Telematics control module.
