Fuel Supply Components, Removing and Installing






WARNING!
Always follow applicable safety precautions when working on the fuel system.


NOTE:

- Always replace gaskets, seals and clamps during reassembly.
- Hose connections are secured with screw- or clamp-type clamps.
- Connecting fuel pump remote control, refer to "Fuel Pump, Checking" Testing and Inspection
- Relay position 10 is located on the right side of the front passenger footwell on the wheelhousing.
- When removing and installing the fuel level sensor, make sure that the wiring is not damaged.
- Pay attention to rules of cleanliness.
- Checking fuel pump relay:


1 - Lock ring
- Open using special tool 3342
2 - O-ring
3 - Mounting tube
- 20 Nm (15 ft lb)
4 - Banjo bolt
- 20 Nm (15 ft lb)
5 - Fuel supply line
- To fuel filter
6 - Lock ring
- Open using special tool 3217
7 - Alignment marking
- Marking on fuel level sensor aligns with marking on fuel tank
8 - Left-side fuel level sensor
- Removing and installing
9 - Seal
10 - Fuel tank
11 - Vent line
12 - Banjo bolt
- 20 Nm (15 ft lb)
13 - Fuel supply line
14 - Fuel filter
- Note direction of flow See Fig. 1
15 - Banjo bolt
- 20 Nm (15 ft lb)
16 - Vent line
17 - Vent line
18 - Vent line for fuel filling
19 - Fuel pump with integrated reservoir and fuel level sensor
- Removing and installing
20 - Return line
21 - Right-side fuel gauge sensor
- Removing and installing
22 - Seal
23 - Compression spring
24 - Cover for fuel gauge sensor
- Removing and installing.
- To open turn clockwise
- To close turn counterclockwise

The fuel filter is located under the floor of the vehicle, right-rear, under the trim and in front of the rear axle.
- Remove screws and trim.


NOTE: The arrow points in the direction of fuel flow to the engine.
