Ignition Lock Cable: Service and Repair







NOTE: The ignition interlock cable must not be kinked.

Removal
- Disconnect battery Ground (GND) strap.

CAUTION: Before disconnecting the battery Ground (GND) strap, determine the correct coding for the anti-theft radio.

- Remove map pocket under steering wheel on driver side.
- Remove steering column switch.
- Turn ignition switch to "ON" position.
- Move selector lever to "P" position.
- Lift locking clip -1- and pull interlock cable out of ignition lock.
- Remove cover together with guide.
- Lift securing spring slightly and unclip cable from securing spring bracket.
- Loosen cable tie -2- and remove cable.

Installation And Adjustment
- Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following information.
Route cable free of kinks and secure in position with cable tie -2-,
- Adjust steering column to bottom/rear position.
- Check lock clip engagement -1-,
- Loosen bolt -6- slightly.
Bracket -3- can be pushed in direction of arrow -5- by hand
- Make sure securing spring is seated in bracket.
- Install cable bracket -3- in selector lever housing and connect cable eye to lever (for interlock cable).
- Install adjusting gauge 3352 (item -4- ) between lever (for interlock cable) and cable eye.
- Pull cable in direction of arrow -5- and tighten bolt -6- to 8 Nm (71 inch lb)
- Check cable after each adjustment. Testing and Inspection
