About Trouble Codes
Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Table
NOTE:
- The DTC table lists all malfunctions that can be recognized by the control module for central locking and printed out by the VAG1551 scan tool according to their 5-digit DTC. DTC only appears on printout.
- The DTC memory records all static and sporadic malfunctions. When a malfunction occurs it is immediately identified as a static malfunction. If the malfunction does not occur again it is registered as a sporadic malfunction. "ISP" appears on the right of the display.
- When the ignition is switched on, all existing malfunctions are automatically reclassified as sporadic malfunctions and will only register as static malfunctions if they still occur after testing.
- Sporadic malfunctions which no longer occur after 50 opening cycles are erased automatically.
- If malfunctions for switches or actuators are stored, always expand troubleshooting by checking the measuring value blocks. Measuring Value Blocks (Function 08)
- Before replacing a component shown as faulty, check wiring and connections to the component as well as Ground (GND) connections according to wiring diagram.
- Once repairs have been completed, the DTC memory is always to be checked again with scan tool V.A.G 1551 and erased. The vehicle is then to be relocked (with key or radio remote control system) and the DTC memory is re-checked.
