Procedure
NOTE:^ When performing this procedure, refer to the corresponding test tables for measuring block values. Test Tables (Measuring Block Values)
^ Display Groups 9 through 11 are only available on models with a Traction Control System (TCS)/Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR).
^ The measuring value block consists of one display group of four measured values with physical units, and two display groups of measured values without physical units.
^ If the printer is on, the display is also printed out on the test log.
PROCEDURE
- Ensure basic preparation has been done. Basic Preparation
- Ensure Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory has been checked and any malfunctions displayed have been located and rectified. Connecting VAG 1551 Scan Tool
- Connect scan tool No. VAG 1551 with diagnostic cable tool No. VAG 1551/3, or equivalent. Connecting VAG 1551 Scan Tool

- Press button 1 for "Rapid data transfer" operating mode.

NOTE:
^ Display fields 1 to 4 of display group 001 indicate the wheel speed in km/h. It is calculated by the ABS control module on the basis of the pulses received from the wheel speed sensor. If the vehicle is accelerated or moved uniformly on a dry road surface, the permissible difference between the readouts 1 to 4 is not more than + 1 km/h (rounding error).
^ If the differences are greater check the wheel speed sensors and rotors.
^ Check that the wheel speed sensors are properly connected to the correct wheel by rotating the wheels by hand. Lock the other driven wheels to prevent them also turning.
^ If the readouts obtained indicate malfunctions, carry out the resistance measurements, electrical test steps 7 through 10. Component Tests and General Diagnostics
- When all conditions are correct, press the ARROW button.
