Condition
Vehicle exhibits poor (low) idle quality and/or lack of power.
Condition may be caused by power interruption to the ECM (e.g., dead or disconnected battery, ECM replacement, etc.).
Service
Whenever ECM power is interrupted, the throttle valve control module must be adapted to the ECM.
Throttle valve adaptation can be achieved by performing one of the following:
1. Switching the ignition ON for 10 seconds (engine not running).
2. Perform Throttle valve control module adaptation procedure as outlined on pages 24-119 through 24-122 of Repair Manual A4 1.8 Liter 5V Turbo OBD II Fuel Injection & Ignition (W42 014 195 115).
