Installation

NOTE: Numbers in ( ) refer to points in the applicable image,



- Lay toothed belt on belt pulley of crankshaft.




- Secure vibration damper to crankshaft. At same time, fit lower toothed belt guard.

- Secure pulley using brace 3256.

- Coat threads and contact surfaces of bolt head with sealing paste AMV 188 001 02.

NOTE: Spanner 2079 for vibration damper must align with torque wrench.

- Ensure that toothed belt is not pinched between the oil pump and toothed belt pulley when tightening vibration damper.

- Tightening torque
^ With spanner 2079: 350 Nm (258 ft lb)
^ Without spanner 2079: 450 Nm (332 ft lb)
- Tighten lower toothed belt guard to 10 Nm (7 ft lb)




- Check TDC position of crankshaft...




- Check camshaft marks.

- Crankshaft and camshaft markings must be aligned.




- Fit toothed belt over idler pulley, coolant pump sprocket, and camshaft sprocket.

- Tension toothed belt by turning tensioner toward right (arrow) with bolts (1), (2) and (3) loosened.





- It must be possible to just twist toothed belt by 90° in center between camshaft sprocket and coolant pump with thumb and forefinger.

- Tighten tensioner bolts to 20 Nm (15 ft lb)

- Check basic adjustment of Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor.
